Reflection & Inspirations
Dedicated to Lisa and Kim,

As editor, I have been following breast cancer "blogs" which are really journal writing and sharing through the internet. Recently, I have lost a couple of volunteers to metastatic breast cancer and this has caused me to reflect on life. Here is a sample of magical poems and thoughts I have found in the blogs.

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then someone at my side says: There, she is gone!

Gone where?

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear the load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: There, she is gone! There are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: Here she comes!

And that is dying.
~Henry Van Dyke~

There is a rawness and wonder to life. Pursue it. Hunt for it. Sell out to get it. Don't listen to the whines of those who have settled for a second rate life and want you to do the same so they won't feel guilty. Your goal is not to live long, its to live.
~Max Lucado~

If there's something special you want to do, now is the time... if you want to make a difference in the world, now is the time. Don't be fooled into thinking you should wait until you are older or wiser or more 'secure' - because it doesn't work that way. The wisdom will come. The security will come. But first you must begin your adventure.
~Ron Atchison~

"This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind...let it be something good."
